Spring has sprung along with pollen and mold. There has been an increase in students with itchy watery eyes, stuffy or runny noses, and headaches. Asthma is also affected by the rise in pollen counts and mold growth. If your child needs to have medication (including over the counter) available for allergy or asthma problems, please follow the county medication policy. A Request for Medication/Treatment during School Hours form must be filled out and signed by a physician in order for your child to receive medication in the clinic.

As the outside temperature raises so does the outside activity level. If your child is injured and needs to use the elevator he/she will need to have a note of medical necessity from a physician or other medical professional and a $10 deposit. The key may be obtained from the nurse.

Another reminder: cough drops and feminine supplies are not part of the clinic supply list.

Any medication (including over the counter medications) must have a physician’s prescription on file in the clinic updated each school year on the Request for Medication/Treatment During School Hours form. This form and all other medication and care plan forms can be accessed and downloaded from the school nurse page on the school fusion website.

Reminder:
Viruses and bacterial infections are contagious. If your child is sick the night before or in the morning, please do not send them to “try to make it through the day.” Most of the time they won’t make it and they expose their classmates and teachers to the illness. Your child should stay home if they have had these symptoms within the last 24 hours:
Fever over 100
Vomiting and/or diarrhea (with or without fever)
Swollen or painful joints from injury
Severe earache
Suspected contagious diseases (until on treatment for 24048 hours)
• Chicken pox
• Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
• Pediculosis (head lice)
• Scabies
Injury or illness requiring further immediate treatment
Suspected substance abuse
